Campaigning for Congress I became acutely aware of the problems in public education at LAUSD schools in NE Los Angeles. As a matter of fact, two of the schools in my district were featured in the documentary "Waiting for Superman" as 2 of the 10 worst schools in the United States. At that time, a new charter school was opened in the neighborhood and the results were dramatically superior to the public schools. The parochial schools were also top performers. I attended a Congressman Becerra Town hall at Eagle Rock High School and by chance read a current American History textbook. Ouch! That has changed my life. Ever since I have been committed to bringing Schools Choice to the people of California.
